MASERATI 450S
A period-correct tubular chassis.
The body existed. The parts were available. What was missing was the chassis beneath it all.
The objective was to engineer and recreate a tubular chassis for a Maserati 450S that closely resembled the original car. A 3D scan of the original provided the dimensional foundation. From there, thorough research into the construction techniques and material specifications of comparable cars from the era informed every decision.
One detail proved critical. The large mid-section tubes on period Maseratis and Ferraris were oval, not round. Replicating that required the client to develop a dedicated oval tube-fabricating machine capable of producing the tubes to the correct specification. The result is a chassis that not only meets the structural requirements of the build but carries the construction logic of the original.
